Essays on urban school education: Evidence from Chicago Public Schools

This dissertation explores factors that shape the schooling experiences of urban public school students, such as the political economy of Chicago schooling, the de-centralization of decision-making authority to select CPS administrators, and questions of school safety in Chicago through empirical analyses. The paper was published by Dr. Matthew Steinberg, a public policy PhD student, who is now an Assistant Professor at the University of Pennsylvania.
